On September 7, 2017, the dance theater performance "Tobias, the Angel - and the Wasted Europe?" by Israeli artist and choreographer Oren Lazovski will premiere in the Bürgerhaus Borken.
The production, based on the Jewish legend of Tobias, deals with the duality of good and evil, while at the same time building a bridge to today's political process in Europe.
Just in time for the Lutheran year, the performance thus comes to include content that is also related to Christian questions. The theme of the legend - adhering to faith in spite of numerous obstacles - is now more up to date than ever, reaching far beyond various religions. Especially with regard to a crisis-ridden Europe, we have to ask ourselves how the European narrative, a global utopia of world peace, will look like in the future.
The performance is understood as a dynamic analysis of social issues. It doesn't stop on the verge of political statements, but, in addition, closely connects movement, space and language in order to enable the audience to have an intense artistic experience.
